ANC 2G Committees
Committees play a vital role in shaping the work of ANC 2G by reviewing key issues, gathering community input, and making recommendations to the Commission. These committees are made up of residents like you, working together to address the challenges and opportunities in our neighborhood.
Joining a committee is a great way to get involved, influence decision-making, and help build a stronger, more connected community.
Why Join a Committee?
Make a Difference: Help shape decisions that directly impact your neighborhood.
Build Community: Work alongside fellow residents who care about the future of ANC 2G.
Develop Expertise: Gain deeper insights into zoning, licensing, transportation, and public space issues.
Who Can Join?
Any resident of ANC 2G is welcome to join a committee.
What to Expect:
Committees meet once per month at a set time and day, and members are encouraged to attend meetings regularly to stay engaged in the committee’s work. Each committee chair produces a monthly report summarizing their work and recommendations to the Commission.
Note: Occasionally, if there are no relevant issues to review in a given month, a meeting may be canceled in advance, and the committee chair will notify members.
Joining a committee is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future of ANC 2G while connecting with neighbors who share your passion for our community.
ANC 2G has 3 committees:
Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Licensing Committee (ABCL)
The ABCL Committee reviews and offers guidance to the Commission on all applications related to alcoholic beverage licenses and medical cannabis licenses. This includes evaluating new license applications, renewals, and any modifications to existing licenses.
The committee ensures that businesses operate responsibly and in alignment with the needs and concerns of the community. By joining, you’ll have a chance to weigh in on important matters affecting nightlife, public safety, and neighborhood quality of life.
Transportation Advisory and Public Space Committee (TAPS)
This committee reviews and provides recommendations on Notices of Intent (NOIs) issued by the District Department of Transportation (DDOT). These NOIs cover roadway or intersection redesigns, as well as plans relating to public spaces like sidewalks, alleys, and bike lanes.
Joining this committee gives you the opportunity to advocate for safer streets, more accessible public spaces, and improved transportation infrastructure in ANC 2G.
Zoning, Planning, and Historic Preservation Committee (ZPHP)
The ZPHP Committee reviews and makes recommendations on zoning relief applications and cases brought before the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB). Whether it's a new development, building addition, or preservation of historic properties, this committee plays a crucial role in balancing neighborhood growth with maintaining our community's unique character.
Committee members contribute to decisions that shape the look, feel, and livability of ANC 2G.
